Organizational Coaching

Progressive organizations that are serious about being extraordinary incorporate coaching into their leadership and employee development programs. They provide coaches to help:

  • Current leaders become more effective and more resilient,
  • High potential individual contributors who are on the leadership track and
  • Professional individual contributors achieve higher levels of performance.

Organizations benefit when leaders become more effective and performance improves

Through coaching, clients who have been coached have acknowledged their enhanced ability to:

  • Achieve their goals
  • Develop the competencies necessary for success
  • Make behavioral changes
  • Learn new skills
  • Prevent self-derailment
  • Deal with overwhelm or being stuck

Executives: Sometimes referred to as the “CEO disease” -- the higher in the organization, the greater the isolation and the lesser the feedback -- can be a serious issue. It can be lonely at the top. Without accurate and honest feedback and support, the leader is at greater risk for declining leadership and personal effectiveness. The coach can gather and provide that honest, caring, direct feedback and help the leader improve their effectiveness.

New Managers: Traditionally, individuals are promoted to management based on their high level of performance as individual contributors. The transition into management is not a natural one and too often they are not prepared for the challenges. Leadership development that includes coaching increases their chance of success and reduces the stress commonly experienced by new managers. When any manager struggles or fails, the manager, their staff, and the organization are negatively impacted.

Women: Women have made tremendous strides in organizations. However, there are still differences, especially at the senior levels. Support, feedback and new tools provided by the coaching relationship help them successfully advance in the organization. A coach with organizational and leadership experience who is also a woman is an added resource for the woman leader.

Performance and Development: Continuous learning and development is essential for personal and organizational growth. A person who does not continue to grow and develop will be left behind. Performance and development coaching is targeted toward high potential individual contributors and successful leaders.

Change and Transition:  Organizations, leaders and individual contributors are impacted by changes and transitions – from the newly hired or newly promoted manager to the experienced leader. Whether it is a new strategy, restructuring, a merger or acquisition, the change or transition can take its toll. The support of a coach, particularly one who has experienced organizational change and transition and grew through it, can contribute enormously to the success of the change and transition process.
